Drugstore Delight: Cover Girl Plumpify BlastPRO Mascara
Cover Girl has launched some mascara misses the past few years, but I'm happy to report the new Cover Girl Plumpify BlastPRO Mascara isn't one of them. It ticks all the boxes I require of a mascara, and with a price tag hovering around the $10 mark, it's certainly friendlier on the pocketbook than department store counterparts.

On Repeat Lately: My 11 Everyday Style Staples
When I was in my 20s, I worked hard to be able to buy the wardrobe of my dreams. Now that I'm in my 30s it's the other way around: My wardrobe has to work hard for me so I can get on with my day. I'd rather get dressed in 5 minutes or under when I'm going out and then be able to forget my clothes while I focus on life. The 11 items I've been wearing non-stop lately enable me to do just that.
Drugstore Delight: Revlon Ultra HD Matte Lipcolor
The last time I reviewed a new Revlon lip product, I wrote: "When budgets are tight, a drugstore lipstick can be just the cheap and cheerful pick-me-up one needs, and in this category, few surpass Revlon for their innovative formulas, wallet-friendly prices, and flattering shades." It may be a new year and a new Revlon lippie, but the same sentiment applies. Revlon Ultra HD Matte Lipcolor ($11.49 at London Drugs) boasts a wax-free, gel-based formula and loads of colour pigment like its predecessor Revlon Ultra HD Lipstick, but with a moisturizing, velvety feel.
Sneak Peek: Dior Spring 2016 Glowing Gardens Collection
I know it's only January, but the Dior Spring 2016 Glowing Gardens Collection already has me dreaming of balmier days when the whole world is abloom. The collection emphasizes colour, softness, and luminousness, drawing inspiration from Christian Dior's garden and deep love of flowers. "After women, flowers are the most divine creations," the designer once said. Ready to take a closer look?
In-Depth Review: Design Love Co. 2016 Planner
You've probably seen the 2016 Design Love Co. Planner all over your favourite bloggers' Instagram feeds, but how is it really? As someone with an obsessive-compulsive streak who prizes function over fashion, I was skeptical at first that it would meet all my organizational needs, but it turns out I was wrong! Meeting Design Love Co. founder Marissa Cristina and seeing a sample last fall inspired me to get my own, and I'm so glad I did. Whether you're curious about the planner or you want to get yourself organized for 2016 and make it your best year ever, consider this your in-depth, firsthand look at what's inside those blue-and-marble covers.
10 Changes I've Seen Since I Started Bar Method
One of the best things I did for myself in 2015 was sign up for Bar Method. My attendance waned during the fall with night school, admittedly. But now that that's done, I'm so psyched to join the topknot-wearing, grippy-sock-sporting denizens at the Yaletown studio. 2-3 Bar classes a week (or 10 times a month) is my goal, and if I lose motivation I'm going to return to this list of positive changes that have resulted from Bar to give myself a much-needed push.

If you're anything like me, after the excesses of the holiday season comes the budgetary crackdown; that's why I like to kick off January by focusing on drugstore beauty products. Let's start with the new L'Oreal True Match Lumi Cushion Compact, which promises to deliver a premium cushion compact experience at the drugstore level. Exciting news for beauty lovers!
2015 Reflections & 2016 Resolutions
Happy 2016, dear readers! Welcome to a new year and a new look for Solo Lisa. The blog was long overdue for a design refresh and I couldn't be happier with how it's turned out. The updated, fully responsive template looks much better on tablet and mobile, while the topmost navigation menus and slider widget let you view highlighted posts and browse by popular categories. It's a breath of fresh air, and frankly after the 2015 I've had, I welcome any chance at positive vibes, good karma, and new beginnings.
