As a beauty blogger who celebrated the big 3-0 last year, two truths have become clear. First, good skincare habits are more important than ever. And second, you don’t always have to spend a fortune to get an effective product. The new NIVEA Q10plus Anti-Wrinkle Serum Pearls ($16.77 at walmart.ca) is proof of the latter. I’ve only been using this drugstore delight for a week, but it’s already made a big difference.
The star ingredients of NIVEA Q10plus Anti-Wrinkle Serum Pearls are the innovative coenzyme Q10 pearls. Coenzyme Q10 is an energy coenzyme that exists naturally in skin cells; its level decreases with age, which may lead to wrinkles. The pearls hold highly concentrated coenzyme Q10 similar to that found in the skin which bursts and co-mingles with the other serum ingredients in the nozzle. This ensures the ingredients are freshly activated with every use.
I’ve never seen anything quite like NIVEA Q10plus Anti-Wrinkle Serum Pearls before. Look how cool the pearls look in the clear bottle—they’re like sunshine-y tapioca bubbles, and there are so many of them. The clear solution they’re suspended in contains hyaluronic acid (a humectant that traps moisture in the skin for an instant hydrating effect) and creatine (an organic acid that helps supply energy to the skin).
The dispensed product admittedly doesn’t look quite as cool. (Scrambled egg, anyone?)
But wow does it apply like a dream. The serum’s texture is so lightweight and quick-absorbing that I’ve been using it day or night, as recommended on the bottle, and it layers well under makeup, moisturizer, sunscreen, or other serums.
I don’t have wrinkles yet, but I do have persistent frown creases in my forehead that seem to deepen infinitesimally each year and threaten to become actual wrinkles—even with the priciest creams, serums, and face oils at my disposal. These lines look practically gone in the last week of product testing. The results are impressive enough for me to keep NIVEA Q10plus Anti-Wrinkle Serum Pearls in my medicine cabinet to layer with other skincare products. After all, don’t they say an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure? Consider it a third beauty truth.
