The first week of January back from the holidays always feels bittersweet. I miss the relaxed pace of my winter break, but I'm glad to be getting back into the swing of things with a clear head and refreshed spirit and this last week felt like a good warm-up act for the rest of the year, very productive and quiet. Plus, I've been sleeping well every night. That's probably pretty boring, but to this semi-chronic insomniac it's a big deal!
I even did some cooking, making big batches of butter chicken and turkey and white bean chili while the Golden Globes played in the background. Did anyone else watch? Favourite joke: the one about Amal Clooney's many accomplishments and George Clooney being the one to receive a lifetime achievement award. Favourite win: The Grand Budapest Hotel. Red carpet favourite: Emma Stone in Lanvin. On a red carpet full of gowns, one sure way to stand out is in a chic trouser ensemble.
As for today's outfit post: Not a lot going on here except a whole lot of grey and black. It must be the incessant fog and drizzle Vancouver's experienced in the last couple weeks creeping into my consciousness and my closet. I do like how sleek and streamlined all the greys and blacks are, with that pop of red from the lips and and a little nod to spring in the form of coral nails. Also digging how the pom pom cabled sweatshirt provides a cute and cozy counterpoint to the edge of the moto jacket and Chelsea boots.
Happy Monday! Here's to a fresh week ahead.
