Yesterday's post was all about what I did in Toronto; today's post will break down the look that Cover Girl and Pantene pros Amelie Ducharme and Justin German created for the #BeautyUnited #MusicGlam Grammy party! Dubbed "Rockin' Romance," the look was inspired by Paris Hilton's red carpet 'do and Rita Ora's makeup. Think demure, Victorian-inspired hair with a tousled twist, complemented with bold brows, flawless skin, and smoldering rocker eyes. Read on for a step-by-step breakdown of how to replicate the look at home.
The Hair
Prep hair by washing it with Pantene Pro-V Damage Detox Weekly Deep Cleanse Purifying Shampoo, then blow-dry sections with a round brush before pinning and setting them with spritzes of Pantene Pro-V Stylers Anti-Humidity Maximum Hold Hairspray. (This will create texture and hold in the locks for the next steps.) After a few minutes, remove the clips and shake out the curls, then spritz on Pantene Advanced+ Keratin Repair KERAGLOSS Oil Mist to relax the look and build texture.
Next, part the hair in two sections and gather the hair from both temples into a knot at the top of the head. Gather the rest of the hair into a ponytail at the crown. (The key here is to keep the sides tight to the head while maintaining an undone look.) Backbrush the ponytail and mist it with hairspray, then twist the ponytail in a downward spiral, pinning it into place as you go along and tucking in the ends.Undo the top section of hair and backbrush with a few spritzes of Pro-V Stylers Anti-Humidity Spray. Then lift hair at the front, creating volume. Roll and pin the hair into the bottom twist, connecting the top and bottom twists into one.
For the final touch, using your fingertips, pull out a few pieces of hair from the front, lifting and spraying for even more volume and texture. Finish with a few sprays of KERAGLOSS for extra shine. The Makeup
A flawless complexion is key to this look. Apply COVERGIRL Outlast Stay Fabulous 3-in-1 Foundation with a foundation brush, then even out dark circles with a concealer brush dipped in COVERGIRL + Olay Eye Rehab CC Cream. Apply concealer in a wide triangular swath under the eye and around the socket. Next, lightly apply COVERGIRL Clean Sensitive Skin Pressed Powder under the eye and on the forehead, nose, and chin to set the concealer and zap shine.
Now it's time for the eyes, which take quite a few steps to achieve Rita-Ora-esque drama! With your finger, apply COVERGIRL Bombshell Shine Shadow in 'Ohh La Lilac' all over the lid up to the crease, then along the bottom lashline with a flat shadow brush. Using a shadow brush, apply COVERGIRL Flamed Out Shadow Pot in 'Molten Black' from the outside corner of the lid and then from the inside corner, blending toward the centre of the eye, connecting both sides in the crease. To create dimension, apply the plum shadow from the COVERGIRL EyeEnhancer 4-Kit Shadow in 'Prom Queen' to the middle of the lid, just below the crease.
Next, it's time to heighten the drama of the look by lining the eyes. Sweep the plum shadow under the eye. Rim the bottom of the eye, tight to the lashline, with the Shadow Pot in Molten Black, blending slightly and widening the line as you approach the outer corner of the eye. Next, line the entire waterline with COVERGIRL LiquiLineBlast Eye Liner in 'Black Fire'. To intensify the look, trace over the shadow on the outer corners of the eye, and blend out and up using the sponge tip on the other end of the pencil. Using a shadow brush, connect the shadow from the top and bottom lids just beyond the outside corner, lifting up and out toward the temple, elongating the eye.
Using COVERGIRL Bombshell Intensity Liner in 'Pitch Black Passion', trace along the upper lashline starting from the inner corner, creating a thicker line as you move to the outer corner and extending just beyond the lash in an upward movement. Coat lashes with COVERGIRL Bombshell Volume Mascara in 'Very Black'. Start with multiple coats of Step 1 for extreme volume, then apply Step 2 for a pitch black glossy finish. Finish the eye look by applying the silver shade from the Prom Queen palette under the brow.
Fill in brows with COVERGIRL Brow & EyeMakers Pencil one shade darker than your natural colour.
Now, to finish the rest of the face! Contour using COVERGIRL Clean Glow Bronzer in Spices. Apply the darkest shade of the palette under the cheek bone at the temple. As you move toward the apple of the cheek, blend the middle and lightest shade. Finally, prep the skin around the lips by applying moisturizer topped with a thin layer of foundation to cover any redness. Then, fill in your lips with COVERGIRL LipPerfection in 'Yummy'; for a more matte finish, apply a light dusting of Clean Pressed Powder on top.
