It's taken me a little over a week and a lot of rest to get over this cold, so I kept things simple last Sunday with a casual outfit ideal for running errands: a silk blouse layered under a wool sweater, flats, and the moto jacket I can't seem to get enough of. I love the bright pops of colour from the blue heart and the touches of red and orange.
Other than recovery, my life seems to have taken a very humdrum, grown-up turn of late. Work is occupying my mind. So are thoughts of going back to school, what's for dinner, whether I have to do laundry tonight, when the next strata meeting is, how much I should contribute to my RRSPs this year, whether my performance review will go well...the list goes on. Let's just say my head is a very crowded place right now, which leaves very little room for sublime sartorial creativity. Until it becomes less crowded, simple outfits are good.
Have a good weekend!
P.S. You know what perks up a simple outfit? A lovely lipstick. Find out how you can win 10 of them from Mary Kay.
What I cute sweater! The sweater makes your whole outfit look happy :-)

Aw thanks! There's something irrepressibly cheerful about that blue heart, isn't there?
DeleteGlad to hear you're feeling better! And goodness, do I know about those "grown-up" thoughts...
ReplyDeleteThanks! Glad you can relate.
Deletehi Lisa and happiest New Year wishes!!! this outfit is just adorable on you, i'm a BIG fan of anything hearted *wink* so the sweater is a huge swoon. your darling little floral print socks with those swell shoes really perfect the whole look from top to bottom!
ReplyDeletesounds like you've got some weighted things going on but i sure hope a lift happens soon. i've had the same feelings too and understand well how easily an overwhelming wave of to-dos compiles quickly. i've been meaning to come by and say hi sooner but my weeks have ended up without much free space, but i wanted to thank you for the reply to my get-together invite. if things change you are always welcome to pop by, no rsvp necessary :) i'd love to meet you, if not next weekend, then another time for sure! cheers. ♥
Thank you for your sweet comment! I totally know what you mean about schedules, hours, and days just getting away from you. All the best with your get-together--I'm sure it'll be a cheerful mid-winter pick-me-up for you and your guests.
DeleteSuper cute look - I love the combo of the blue and the orange.
ReplyDeleteHope you're feeling better!

Thanks, Kate!
DeleteThere's been a nasty bug going around lately, unfortunate that you caught it, BUT YOU DEFEATED IT. Yay!
ReplyDeleteI just recently discovered Bloch flats, and I've been wearing mine religiously since. So comfortable, especially after picking up a retail job. Also, I love how you styled your blythe blouse and tippi, so cute :o)
I might've spoken too soon about defeating it; some sniffles and sneezes came back this weekend. :/
DeleteAren't Bloch flats great? I love the extra cushioning at the heel.
I know what you mean about having grown-up brain, Lisa. I feel the same way, especially with a new job. My outfits are uber simple on the weekend, and then fairly professional (and less fun) on the weekdays.
ReplyDeleteI love your outfit -- especially the pops of color!
Hope things quiet down for you soon too.

All the best with your new job, Lar. I'm glad others can relate about having grown-up brain!
DeleteI adore sweaters with hearts on them. It's just so cute!
ReplyDeleteMe too. Based on the lookalike versions I found, it looks like the trend is sticking around.
DeleteWhat a cute outfit for running errands. Love that sweater. And those oxfords.
ReplyDeleteThanks! Who says you can't look cute while grocery shopping? ;-)
Deletecute! I love the shoes!

They're my favourite shoes when I want a casual look that's not too casual. Bloch doesn't make them anymore, so I don't know what I'll do if they wear out. :/
DeleteI like your silk blouse - I don't own any, and wonder if you recommend the ones from J Crew or elsewhere? Thanks!
ReplyDeleteThanks Elisse! J. Crew's silk blouses are great. I also like Joe Fresh because theirs are so affordable ($39-49 a pop) and Madewell because theirs come in fun, whimsical patterns.
