A name change for this recurring blog feature was long overdue. After all, it's been ages since my outfit posts have shown ensembles that I wore on the day they were posted! Regardless of when the photos were taken though, these posts will continue to be a weekly glimpse into my personal style.
Oh, hi there! I didn't forget about you, I promise. Thanks for all the sympathy you showed toward my grown-up brain problems in my last outfit post. It's a relief to know I'm not the only one with heavy thoughts beyond shopping and style lately. Hopefully any reader who's grappling with their own case of grown-up brain lately is making progress!
Ironically, shortly after that post, Grown-Up Brain subsumed Fashion Brain as a big project launched at work and I found myself attending endless rounds of meetings and fretting about project lead stuff. Feeling like I was on the verge of catching another cold certainly didn't help.
With temperatures hovering near freezing the last few days, I didn't want to risk getting sick again. I've been bundling up as much as possible and reaching for warm, soft, cozy clothes--hence the sweater coat over the sweater dress, all topped with a toque. Knits upon knits!
As if that weren't enough, I layered an oversize rust orange cocoon coat on top. I'm so glad Anya convinced me to buy this coat when I was dithering over the hefty price tag last year. Its silhouette is a refreshing change from classic belted wool numbers, plus the voluminous shape accommodates even the chunkiest of knits.
The boy is sick with the flu right now, so he and I are probably going to take it easy. You know, errands and cooking and cleaning--the usual. Nothing too exciting.
Have a good weekend!
Great look Lisa - your sweater is amazing!

I like how you've layered each of these pieces! And yes to no more colds! It appears to be a rough season for them this year. And that coat is a unique staple to your wardrobe! Hope the Boy feels better soon!
ReplyDeleteThanks! He's still coughing a lot but on the road to recovery.
