"New Year, New You" is a phrase that's trotted out every January and splashed across the pages of fashion magazines as they advise us on how to lose weight, eat better, and be more stylish. While the new me--the home-owning, fitter, more successful me who knows how to shop wisely--may not materialize right away, the current me can at least take comfort in a twist on that motto: "New Year, New Shoes."
As it turns out, end-of-season designer shoe sales are a goldmine for tiny-footed girls. I found the Nicholas Kirkwood flats I'd been eyeing for months at deep discount. The same with the Maison Martin Margiela booties, which I mentioned as one of my Shopbop sale picks in this post. In both cases, they were the last pairs in my size; it was simply meant to be. Both pairs of shoes have smooth leather soles and are pretty slippery to walk in, so I'm having my cobbler put rubber soles on them before their first wearing.
Have you been shopping the end-of-season sales or treated yourself to a new pair of shoes lately?
P.S. For those who want their own Nicholas Kirkwood tassel loafers, look out for the pink pair in his spring/summer 2012 collection.
Unfortunately we were too busy cleaning. No time to shop :O( But glad to see that you made some cute purchases - those booties are fantastic.
ReplyDeleteGreat sales finds - especially love the booties!
ReplyDeleteI found a great pair for a great price on Net-a-porter. The only problem is that they also need some rubber soles. It's madness to walk around in them when it's raining outside. Last week I was sliding through IGA!
Could you let me know where you bring your shoes? I have a hard time trusting cobblers, but I really need to get a few pairs fixed.

Leonie, I go to the guy who runs Robson Shoe Repair and have been going to him for some time:

He is the nicest old Asian man. He's put rubber soles on various pairs of shoes for me and re-done heel taps. When you're picking up or dropping off shoes, he'll give you tips on how to care for them. Oh, and he knows designer shoes so he'll take extra good care of them. (When I was picking up my Kirkwoods, I told him I was bringing in the new Martin Margielas and his eyes lit up with recognition.)
Oooh, those booties! Love how they're so classic, but have this great texture going on (giving them a little extra oomph!).
ReplyDeleteObsessed with the booties! They look like they would go with a ton of outfits. I totally agree with your saying - "New Year, New Shoes." Every girl needs her shoes, right?!

Oh gosh those booties! I've been trying to find a pair here that don't suck but I haven't had any luck. :(
ReplyDeleteSuch great finds!
ReplyDeleteI got a new pair of Tory Burch patent pointy toe flats for Christmas that ended up on deep discount while Holts was in the midst of sending over my size (very lucky since when I went back they were all gone!). I'm still trying to find new boots that are flat but dressy enough to wear with skirts/dresses....I think I'll be waiting until next year :(
Okay I may break into your house and steal those booties. They are so amazing! Also loving the loafers. Can't wait to see you style them soon, hope you get a little pocket of nice day time in which you can shoot some pics!

Love the booties!!
