The Secret Charm Of Shoe Clips

Call me old-fashioned, but the nostalgic charm of shoe clips really appeals to me. In this world of fast fashion and mass-produced masses of everything, there's something deeply romantic about the notion of investing in one pair of basic leather shoes and buying inexpensive shoe clips to add glamour and achieve different looks. If I were to do the same thing today, I'd splurge on these Chie Mihara 'Delicia' open-toed pumps ($360)--classic yet funky with that thick platform sole, feminine, and well-made. Then I'd buy the jeweled mesh shoe clips ($6.80) and zipper swirl shoe clips ($6.80) from Forever 21 for those times when I want fancier feet.

    A brilliant plan! I hope you follow through, as those Chie Miharas are glorious. Vintage clip-on earrings can make fantastic shoe clips, too!

    I would definitely wear them - I had no idea F21 had some! I figured I'd have to do major thrifting to find any.

    Chie Mihara is my fav shoe designer. I have so many (# is embarrassing).

    Shoe clips are a great idea Lisa! I guess I should trek over to F21 soon...

    I love this idea! I haven't worn shoe clips for years, but if it means I can get more wear out of gorgeous shoes like that, then I'm all for them!

    I love the idea of shoe clips but I'd have to make sure that I have a few pairs that I could actually use them on.. and I own a lot of ankle boots so hahaha don't know if they would work for me. I like the jeweled mesh ones though!

    Great idea! Love both the shoes and shoe clips. I had no idea shoe clips still existed and that the high street stocked them! I don't think I've ever seen them anywhere but vintage stores.

    I wouldn't say never, but I haven't worn them yet. I do like the idea of being able to transform shoes with shoe clips, and I love how Kasmira made her own a while back.

    I tend to wear alot of boots/ankle boots...maybe I can change them up with the shoe clips, too!
