First, lovely Tea of Everyday Sugar gave me the Honest Scrap award. Thanks Tea!
The rules are as follows:
- I must thank the person who gave me the award and list their blog and link it.
- I must list 10 honest things about myself.
- I must put a copy of The Honest Scrap Logo on my blog.
- I must select at least 7 other worthy bloggers & list their links.
- I must notify the bloggers of the award and hopefully they will follow the above three requirements also.
- I can't drive. I've halfheartedly considered learning since high school but I always find other things I'd rather be doing (extracurriculars, dance, writing, part-time jobs, etc.).
- Like Tea, I'm not a morning person.
- When I was a kid, my dream job changed from year to year--teacher, astronomer, Egyptologist, cartoonist, and novelist.
- Looking back, the only one of those careers I would still consider is Egyptologist.
- I like re-reading my old Archie comics sometimes, especially the retro '60s Betty and Veronica and Katy Keene stories for the outfits.
- I go through anti-social spells where I'd rather be alone and in a quiet, contemplative state than be with other people.
- Shoes are stacked on my bookcase alongside my books, old magazines, CDs, and DVDs.
- The last book I read was a young adult novel called Emily Goldberg Learns to Salsa. And yes, I picked it up because it had "salsa" in the title.
- One of my favourite procrastination activities is reading the Globe and Mail online.
- Quirkiest compliment I've received lately: A guy friend described me as "Tina Fey sexy cool."
- (Into) the Fray
- Black Patent Stilettos
- Clothes Line Finds
- Oh Lady E
- Mo-logue
- Saturday Jane's Last Semester
- The Starving Stylist
- Each blogger must post these rules.
- Each blogger must list ten random facts/habits about themselves and pass the award on to other recipients.
- The award recipients then need to do the same.
- Don't forget to leave a comment telling the recipients about the award!
And now, another list of 10 things about me:
- My love of Latin pop culture was actually a result of my Diego Luna crush. After becoming completely obsessed with him, I started looking up other films he was in and films his co-stars did. Then I began researching the soundtracks' artists and listening to their music. It spiralled out of control from there.
- Music playing on my iPod as I made my way to work this morning: Pitbull, the Eagles, Plastilina Mosh.
- I don't mind being really busy as long as I have one or two evenings a week to putter around at home.
- I use 2-in-1 shampoo to cut down on showering time.
- Poorly designed compartments on handbags are dealbreakers for me no matter how cute the handbag may be. I don't like having to dig for things at the bottom of my purse!
- Current food fixation: pineapple buns from Chinese bakeries.
- I spent a summer living in a town of 12,000 people up north and giving tours at the local museum.
- I don't shave my legs for months at a time, if ever. What little hair there is on my calves is barely noticeable, especially after a summer tan starts to develop.
- I'm 5'3" but my younger brother is 6' tall. The tall gene definitely skipped me.
- Every night before I go to bed, I pour myself a glass of water and put it on my night stand just in case I wake up later and get thirsty.
Lastly, Sweety P Style Files gave me the "Your Blog is Fabulous!" award. Thanks Sweety P!
I have a license but haven't driven in more than 20 years. Which means, basically, I can't drive.
ReplyDeleteI'm assuming you learnt to speak spanish at some point during your obsession with Mexico?
ReplyDeleteRosie Unknown, your assumption is correct. Having dated a Mexican guy helps too. :)
ReplyDelete:) I love plastilina mosh too, have you listened to Control machete? im sure you did since you dated a Mexican guy jejej, is that the reason you came to Mexico?
ReplyDeleteI have in my ipod the Amores Perros soundtrack :) it is very nice!
kiss
I only got my driver's license this week and all my family and friends told me they thought I never would...driving still makes me nervous! So glad I'm not alone...
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the awards! (:
ReplyDeletebisous,
La C.
I agree with number 6. I like having my quiet alone time. Which is kind of hard being married for about five years now(hey I'm not knocking my Mr. but I do enjoy when he goes off for a business trip sometimes ;)). Congrats on the awards! And thanks for sharing a little bit more about yourself.
ReplyDeleteYou are so welcome! I love your blog so much!
ReplyDeleteEnjoying the random facts!
ReplyDeleteI ALWAYS wanted to be an egyptologist! I went thru a phase where I was quite obsessed with learning about it in about 4th grade.
Also, uber jealous that you never have to shave your legs! ugh not fair :P
I think you should become the most stylish Egyptologist ever.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on the awards! Being an Egyptologist would be so fun, although most of my thoughts now go to fighting the undead and stopping the end of the world. And I really do need my quiet time once in a while, it works wonders for your mood and energy levels! Oooh and the pineapple buns sound so yummy :)
ReplyDeletehi! i just got back from europe! i missed your blog so much!
ReplyDeletehave you heard of marta sanchez? i fell in love with this song in barcelona!http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qExd-3oCTl4
Bere Tarde o temprano, I like the one single Control Machete did for the Amores Perros soundtrack but I don't know too much of their music. And I don't have the entire Amores Perros soundtrack...just the tracks that Cafe Tacuba did ("Avientame" and "Dog:God") and "Lucha de Gigantes"...love that song.
ReplyDeleteAWww hey thanks so much for the award, Lisa!! =D It's means much to me coming from you especially. Heh I can't wait to do the 'tag' bit of the award too; that sort of thing is always fun.
ReplyDeleteAnd this was a great post! I totally love re-reading Archie comics..Jughead's my absolute fav and i used to have a huge collection but i think my dad dumped them all when we moved house which is so annoying!! =(( totally get you on that anti-social spell bit... seems to happen more and more to me now...
whoohoo so many awesome posts i can't wait to read and comment on!! X) sorry haven't done so in awhile... currently visiting my friend in indonesia so will catch up more next week! take care in the meantime!
I totally agree on the alone thing; sometimes you just get so tired of seeing people and talking to people and shuttling around to your various activities! As you can see, I like to spend mine catching up on my blogs ;)
ReplyDeleteBtw, we've known each too long, I already knew many of these random facts lol
Goodness, so many rules! But fun to read the random facts. You're the same height as my mom. I'm 5'10" so clearly I got the height from my 6' dad. Congrats on all your awards, Miss Tina Fey Sexy Cool! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks! I am finally posting on it soon!
ReplyDeleteI can't drive either :P
Oh my lordy, I know I'm over delayed with this response but how about I post 5 random things about me anyways instead and for only you to know. . .and for whoever else reads my message here! haha
ReplyDeleteRandom Facts:
1) I have two piercings in a place other than my ears.
2) I took Vietnamese martial arts for a good 6 years as a child. I may look primped, pressed and proper at all times but I can still lay a mean smack down.
3) I probably own more designer sunglasses than sunny days in Vancouver.
4) I have yet to step foot outside of North America.
5) I never learned how to ride a bike . . . true story.
Now you know too much about the starvingstylist!
