Being 5'3", finding a good midi skirt has been quite the challenge. Most off-the-rack offerings either hit above the knee (thereby defeating the definition of "midi") or are designed for taller gals, with dismally unflattering results. You can imagine my delight, then, when eShakti offered me the chance to try their service by ordering a made-for-me piece. Simply select the style you like, and then enter your measurements, height, and any customization requests (like a shorter hemline or no pockets).
My birds eye view poplin skirt arrived within a couple weeks and I couldn't be more pleased. The quality is impressive: the cream-coloured poplin feels substantial; the skirt is lined; the embroidered details are well done; and the fit is perfect. I also like the hidden pockets and matching sash, which both add to the versatility of the skirt. And best of all, it's machine-washable!
The skirt's motif seemed like an apropos nod to the gravity-defying acrobatics and tightrope-walkers of the circus, which is why I wore it to Cirque du Soleil's TOTEM. (You can see what a great time the boy and I had on Instagram here, here, and here, and oh, over here.) Breton stripes and black accessories played up the black embroidery details. Coral lips and petal-pink nails finished off the look.
