Dior Vernis Haute Couleur Brilliance et Tenue Effet Gel is a mouthful of a nail lacquer name, and so's Dior Couture Colour Gel Shine and Long Wear Nail Lacquer. But no matter: All you need to know is that you need to get your hands on the Dior Vernis gel-effect nail lacquer, which is available now at Dior counters nationwide.
Look at that high shine! In the past few weeks of experimenting, I couldn't help but be mesmerized by my nails whether they were wearing 'Front Row' (an electric pink with purple shimmer), 'Incognito' (a classic warm beige), or 'Pandore' (a balanced poppy red). The gel-like finish comes from a high-tech polymer derived from laminated glass technology. One coat is enough for full coverage, but I prefer wearing 2-3 quick-drying coats to achieve a gel-like thickness. The finish is so shiny, a top coat is a moot point.
Also noteworthy: a redesigned brush that makes application a breeze, even for nail polish klutzes like me. I usually flood my cuticles and end up with messy edges, but the new Dior Vernis brush shape—flat, densely bristled, rounded at the tip—deposits just the right amount. The rounded tip makes clean cuticle edges easier, and the width is ideal for achieving the three-stroke pro technique (one wide stroke down the middle, two smaller ones on the side).
At $26 a pop, these are on the splurge-y side, and unfortunately I didn't notice a significant difference in chip resistance. But that shine gets me every time and makes me think they're worth the price, even if it's just a few signature shades for quick manis.
