From thoroughbred races to sipping ice-cold drinks in the sun, from seeing familiar faces to donning our Ascot-inspired best, it was another fun year at the Deighton Cup. I had the pleasure of going to the races last year, but this time felt a little different because I brought along the boy and he had never been to the racetrack.
Instead of mingling with the crowds, we retreated to the cool shade of the stands to enjoy our lunches and the panoramic view. We could see which horse won the race by a nose, while off in the distance the North Shore mountains, Burrard Inlet, and Burnaby mountain loomed. (I doubt many racetracks can boast such a breathtaking backdrop!) With the live band playing and the people-watching and style-spotting opportunities the Deighton Cup afforded, it was quite the date night afternoon.
Although my fascinator is old, it complemented a completely different look thanks to this yellow-and-white striped dress from JACOB. Yellow and red aren't usually colours I'd wear together, particularly with cobalt blue. But hey, if the colours work for Mondrian, why question them? I love how the cotton fabrication, ladylike length, and fit-and-flare silhouette make this dress daytime-appropriate. It's casual enough to be worn as a sundress but can be dressed up for special occasions.
If you want to stock up on summer dresses or simply need a new frock for a special occasion, check out JACOB's online sale right now; a lot of styles have been discounted deeply, including this one.
You look so cute! =) i love your dress.
ReplyDeleteThanks! The dress has been getting so many compliments.
